Company Directors
Managing Director
Dr Ahmed Hussein
Co-founder and Senior Mechanical Engineer, Ahmed, brings over 15 years of experience spanning both academia and industry. He earned his PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Exeter, UK, in 2013 and has since gained over a decade of industrial experience in the UK’s aerospace, automotive, and energy sectors. Ahmed has successfully managed and technically led engineering projects, with strong expertise in the design and development of thermal and energy systems.
His career spans various roles, including R&D lead and senior analysis engineer at HiETA Technologies Ltd (now part of Meggitt/Parker Hannifin Corporation), and he has lectured in the UK and Malaysia universities. Ahmed has been involved in numerous collaborative projects across the UK and Europe, securing a funding totaling £4.6M. He has authored over 15 scientific articles, co-authored a book, and holds several patents for industrial inventions.
In his current role, Ahmed is committed to applying his expertise to create innovative solutions to tackle energy challenges in Somalia and across East Africa. He is also focused on positioning the company as a regional leader in renewable energy by developing strategic business plans and leading international partnerships.
Operations Director
Hashim Abdullahi
The co-founder and electrical engineer, with 12 years of experience in solar power systems, holds a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Turkey, completed in 2015. His thesis focused on Photovoltaic Water Pumping and Applications. He is highly skilled in designing, implementing, and optimizing solar energy solutions, with a strong background in renewable energy and sustainable practices.
His career includes roles such as Teaching Assistant in the Department of Electrical Engineering at ITU, and Solar PV Design Engineer at D Electrik. He has utilized tools like PVsyst and SAM for designing and analyzing solar PV systems, enhancing energy production and system efficiency. Hashim has also conducted simulations and performance assessments using Helioscope to support project feasibility studies and has developed educational materials and training modules for new employees and clients on solar PV system operation and software tools. Additionally, he has served as the Executive Director of Somali Voice, an Istanbul-based NGO, where he promoted youth development and supported research, providing opportunities for academic, personal, social, and recreational growth.
With his extensive experience in Somalia projects and technical expertise, Hashim leads the operational team responsible for practical installation tasks, including electricians and panel installers. He ensures that all on-site work meets regulatory standards and drives improvements to elevate the business’s practices beyond basic compliance.
